Search under way for three teenage boys missing in Victorian bushland Missing Victorian teenage boys found safe
(about 4 hours later)
Three teenage boys are missing in Victorian bushland. Three teenage boys have been found safe and well after spending a night lost in the Victorian bush north-east of Melbourne.
Two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old were walking as part of a group of about 20 teens when they wandered off in the Yarra Ranges national park north-east of Melbourne about 2pm on Saturday. Two boys aged 13 and one 14-year-old, were found by search crews about 9am on Sunday. They have been taken to Maroondah hospital for treatment.
A search got under way at dusk on Saturday and resumed on Sunday. The trio went missing about 2.30pm on Saturday after wandering off while walking as part of a group of 20 teenagers in the Yarra Ranges national park.
The Lilydale station commander, Snr Sgt Andrew Hives, thanked those involved in the search. “This was a good outcome and we are glad the boys appear safe and well,” he said.
“It is also a good reminder about how quickly weather conditions can change and we remind people it is important that they are adequately prepared whenever they set out for a hike.”
