Two drivers who were involved in a head-on crash between two buses in Birmingham have been released from hospital, police have said. Six people were taken to hospital and a further seven were treated for shock or minor injuries following the crash between a single and a double decker on Addison Road, Kings Heath on Saturday. Both drivers had to be cut free from their cabs, while four passengers were taken to hospital. Police said they were investigating. They added all injuries were minor and called on any witnesses to contact them. PC James Barry said: "We know a number of passengers left the area before speaking to police and we'd ask them to come forward and contact us as soon as possible. "We've launched an investigation into what happened and need to speak to anyone who was on either of the buses at the time of the collision yesterday or anyone driving along Addison Road at the time of the collision." National Express, which operates the buses, has apologised to passengers and vowed to find the cause of the crash which took place at around 11:00 BST. The two buses - a number 11 and a number 27 - are believed to have been following their usual route when the crash happened. West Midlands Ambulance Service said the two drivers were "extremely fortunate" to escape serious injury. |
