A Manchester police officer has found fame online after impressing a crowd with her dance moves at the city's gay pride parade.

The officer, named by the Manchester Evening News as Inspector Jacqui Prest, cut some shapes to 80s classic Footloose in front of the crowd who had turned out for Manchester Pride.

The video shows her clapping and jiving in front of hundreds on Portland Street in the city centre.

Another officer briefly joins her halfway through the video, but he's unable to keep up.

She gets right back to shimmying, almost taking her uniform jacket off as the crowd goes wild.

Manchester's police seem to be fairly keen on dancing - Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy appeared in a video where some of the force's officers danced to Gangnam Style, in aid of a local boy who was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

They've got a way to go to beat the Met's officers at Notting Hill Carnival, however.

When not dealing with actual crime, there's always a handful of officers somewhere in the Carnival dancing with the crowds. After all, there's no better way to reach out to the community than daggering with scantily-clad carnivalgoers.
