Man admits killing woman whose body was found inside suitcase
Version 0 of 1. A factory worker has admitted killing his partner and dismembering her body. Vytautas Jokubauskas, 57, appeared before the Old Bailey via video link from Belmarsh prison over the death of Ramute Butkiene, who was in her 40s. Her torso was found stuffed into a suitcase at the couple’s rented home on 5 June. Other body parts including arms, legs and her head were recovered elsewhere. The defendant, from Peterborough, denied murdering Butkiene between 28 May and 6 June this year but pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He further admitted preventing the burial of a corpse between 28 May and 8 June. He was remanded in custody to await his trial, scheduled to take place at Southwark crown court from 11 November. The case is expected to take between five and seven days. The defendant, from Lithuania, sat impassively throughout the hearing on Friday and entered his pleas through a translator. Judge Mark Lucraft QC said he could see no legal bar to all the pleas being reported. |
