http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/05/world/middleeast/syria-food-support-is-reduced.html Version 0 of 1. The World Food Program has been forced to cut back by a third its food voucher program for Syrian refugees living in neighboring countries, a spokeswoman, Abeer Etefa, said Friday. The reductions will affect, among others, more than 200,000 Syrians in Jordan, who will stop receiving food aid this month. Since 2011, more than four million Syrians have fled their country’s civil war; most have settled in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt. Since the beginning of the year, the agency reduced the number of voucher recipients in the regional host countries to about 1.4 million people from 2.1 million people. |
