The Reuters news agency reported that the EU executive was preparing to unveil a new set of quotas for more asylum-seekers to be shared across Europe.  "Germany is a country willing to take people in, but refugees can be received in all countries of the European Union in such a way that they can find refuge from civil war and from persecution," she said.
Proposals to be announced on Wednesday will reportedly involve relocating a further 31,443 refugees in Germany, as well as the additional 24,031 Mr Hollande appears to have agreed to in France. In total, it will mean Europe taking in 120,000 people on top of the 40,000 previously agreed.

He mocked the idea of having a quota while also maintaining the EU's open borders, and hit out at his fellow leaders for casting Hungary as the bloc's "black sheep" on the matter.
Speaking in an interview on Austrian TV, Mr Orban called on Germany to stop saying it would take in more asylum-seekers who, he said, were not refugees but migrants attracted by the German lifestyle.
