North-east Labour MSP Richard Baker has announced he will step down from Holyrood at next year's election.

Mr Baker was first elected to the regional list in 2003 and served as a shadow minister.

Earlier this year he stood as the party's Westminster candidate in Aberdeen North, losing out to the SNP's Kirsty Blackman.

He then stood unsuccessfully for the deputy leadership of Scottish Labour.

In a letter to party members Mr Baker said he would remain a committed member of the party.
