Police seal off Bournemouth street after machete threats Man arrested after 8-hour stand-off with police in Bournemouth
(about 2 hours later)
A Bournemouth street has been sealed off after reports that a man threatened two others with a machete. A man has been arrested following an eight-hour stand-off with police at a house in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police said the man was inside a property in Mountbatten Gardens. Two other men were also in the house but one has since left. Police sealed off Mountbatten Gardens at 06:30 BST after reports that a man threatened two people with a machete.
The suspect is also thought to have been involved in an assault at Mallard Road shortly before 03:30 BST in which a woman was injured. An earlier assault at Mallard Road in which a woman was injured is believed to be connected to the incident.
Mountbatten Gardens and Woodbury Avenue have been cordoned off since 06:30. Police said a 34-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
Officers said one of the men who had been threatened had walked out of the house several hours later and is "safe and well".
The woman who suffered an eye injury in the Mallard Road assault is thought to be known to the suspect.
