Dumfries and Galloway Council bin change costs special meeting planned
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-34261906 Version 0 of 1. A £435,000 cost rise for a new waste collection scheme in Dumfries and Galloway is to be the subject of a special meeting of councillors. The council introduced the service in Wigtownshire last year with a view to rolling it out to the whole region. However, the need for additional staff and vehicles has seen costs significantly exceed initial forecasts. The issue was due to be debated this week but will now be discussed at a single-issue meeting instead. Councillor Ian Dick called for the special meeting to be held of the economy, environment and infrastructure committee. He said that since the report on the issue had been published, just days before it was due to be discussed, they had not had time to properly examine its content. "There are a number of costs that I don't think this report properly identifies," he said. "I want to see much more information on the financial implications of this, not least of all for the roll-out across Dumfries and Galloway." |
