A seven-year-old boy who died when he was run over as he dashed across a dual carriageway was running away from a police car. The grandmother of a seven-year-old boy who was killed when he was hit by a car while running across a dual carriageway said she was "devastated" at his death.

"Witnesses report seeing him playing in the area of the central reservation and he appears to have run out into the traffic, resulting in the collision in which he died."
