Four people have been rescued from a sinking dinghy in a river in Devon.

The two men and two women were found waist deep in the water by Exmouth RNLI. Their inflatable boat was believed to have hit an object.

The group got into trouble between Topsham and Turf Locks on the River Exe at about 19:30 BST on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said the dinghy started sinking in the middle of the river when the light was fading and they were "very lucky".

None of the group, who were rescued by the RNLI lifeboat, needed medical treatment.
