Flash floods have killed at least 10 people near Iran's capital, Tehran, and in a southern province, state TV says.

Six people died in Pakdasht, 20km south-east of the capital, when a river broke its banks as they had a picnic.

On Friday night, four people died in Hormozgan province as they watched a river in flood, the TV report said.

Deforestation and improper building work near river beds is being blamed for a rise in the number of flash floods, Associated Press reports.
