A murder investigation is under way after a woman's body was found in a house in Gateshead. A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in a house in Gateshead.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Northumbria Police said it is believed the pair lived in the house together. The 27-year-old, originally from France, was a student at Newcastle College and had been living in the North East for the past 18 months.
The scene was cordoned off while officers made inquiries in the area. Northumbria Police said the last confirmed sighting of her was a week ago, and appealed for information.
A spokesman for the force said: "We need to build up a picture of her movements since that day and want to hear from anyone who might have seen, or spoke to Sarrah in the last week, as soon as possible."
