Mother in court after dog killed baby
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-34413465 Version 0 of 1. The mother of a baby girl killed by a banned dog breed has appeared in court in connection with her death. Claire Riley's six-month-old daughter Molly-Mae Wotherspoon was attacked at home by an American pit bull last October. She later died in hospital. Ms Riley, 22, of Daventry, appeared before Northampton Magistrates' Court accused of being the owner of a dangerously out of control dog. She was bailed to appear at the town's Crown Court on 7 October. Molly-Mae's grandmother, Susan Aucott, 54, of Kettering, appeared in court in September charged with the same offence. Both women are expected to appear in court on Wednesday. The inquest into Molly-Mae's death heard the child died of blood loss from head wounds. The coroner said the family had "paid the ultimate price" for having an illegal breed of dog. The animal, prohibited under the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act, was subsequently destroyed. |
