Based on Kenneth Grahame’s beloved tale of Mole, Ratty, Badger and Toad, the book has been adapted for the stage by Downton Abbey creator Fellowes and Olivier-winning lyrical team George Stiles and Anthony Drew, who all previously worked together on the Mary Poppins musical. Producer Jamie Hendry announced he will be sending copies of Grahame’s novel to every school and library in the towns. The musical hit the headlines last February when it became the first West End musical to raise £1m through crowdfunding, with fans able to invest from as little as £1,000.
