Sheffield car crash fire kills man and injures girl

A car has crashed into a tree and burst into flames, killing a man and leaving a 13-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries. The Vauxhall Astra crashed on Ellesmere Road in the Burngreave area of Sheffield at 03:40 BST on Saturday. The 21-year-old driver died at the scene and the girl, who was the front-seat passenger suffered serious injuries. Two girls aged 16 and 17 in the back of the car suffered minor injuries. South Yorkshire Police said: "Officers have closed a number of roads around the site of the collision including Earldom Street, Earldom Road, Petre Street and Sutherland Road. "The roads will remain closed for some time while investigations are ongoing at the scene." |
