Version 0 of 1.

A woman died after the car she was driving crashed into an apartment building in District Heights on Saturday night, Prince George’s officials said Sunday. Authorities later discovered she also had a gunshot wound.

The crash occurred about 10:46 p.m. at 1950 Rochell Ave., according to Mark Brady, spokesman for Prince George’s Fire and EMS. Authorities said the woman was initially trapped in the car and found unresponsive, suffering trauma. After she was removed from the wreckage, medical workers determined she had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body, Brady said.

The shooting was not being investigated as a homicide, said Officer Harry Bond, a spokesman for the Prince George’s County police. Police declined further comment.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries and pronounced dead, authorities said. Police have not identified her.

The crash caused structural damage to the building, Brady said in a tweet, and led to 27 residents being evacuated.

Police are investigating the crash and the woman’s death.
