The coroner, Kelvin Currie, said one witness had given evidence that Woolmer was trying to reach the ledge to pose for the photograph when she fell. She sat on the edge of the cliff and then rolled on to her stomach, but her foot did not reach the ledge and she “stepped on air”, reported the ABC. The inquest heard that Woolmer fell backwards on to a rocky protrusion below and then fell a further 15 metres on to rocks. She suffered skull fractures leading to bleeding on the brain, a broken back, fractured pelvis, sternum and shoulder blade.
