Hillary Clinton names Virginia leadership team
Version 0 of 1. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) will help lead Hillary Clinton’s efforts in the state, her campaign announced Monday, along with the entire Democratic congressional delegation. “I’m looking forward to helping lead her efforts here,” McAuliffe said in a statement. “Her strong record of leadership has proven that she’s the right person to lead our country and get things done.” [New pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC attracts donors and worries] McAuliffe is a longtime Clinton ally who served as her campaign chairman in the 2008 presidential race. He now governs a state expected to be a key battleground in next year’s election. Most Republican candidates have visited the state and begun amassing support from local lawmakers. Along with McAuliffe, Sens. Tim Kaine and Mark R. Warner will be part of Clinton’s leadership team, along with Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, Attorney General Mark Herring, and Reps. Don Beyer, Gerry Connolly and Bobby Scott. Allida Black, the Virginian who launched the pro-Clinton super PAC “Ready for Hillary” in 2013, is also part of the effort. The group is responsible for helping with rapid response, organization building, grass-roots organizing, volunteer recruiting, and get out the vote efforts, according to the Clinton campaign. |
