Ex-Dragons' Den star Doug Richard in court on child sex charges

A former Dragons' Den star who acted as an adviser to the government has appeared in court over child sex charges.

Doug Richard, 57, is accused of three counts of sexual activity with a child and one of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place in January this year against a 13-year-old girl.

Mr Richard was bailed unconditionally at Westminster Magistrates Court.

He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 19 October.
