The spokeswoman said: "The 35-year-old man was arrested at the house on Coronation Close. Police said both children were pupils at Ysgol Faenol school in Bodelwyddan.

Speaking at a press conference in nearby St Asaph, Detective Superintendent John Chapman, who is leading the investigation, said the children who had died were brother and sister.
He said: "Shortly before 11pm last night, police were called to an address in Bodelwyddan.
"Once at the property, officers searched the house and discovered two children.
"The children, believed to be a five-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy were given immediate medical attention.
"The ambulance service were alerted and the two children, who were brother and sister, were taken by ambulance to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan. They were pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later.

"I can't comment at this stage on any possible relationship between the man and the children." "A 35-year-old man was arrested at the property on suspicion of murder and currently remains in custody awaiting questioning."
He added that a forensic examination of the house was taking place.
He said: "Initial house-to-house inquiries have been made and these inquiries will continue today.
"The family of the two children are being comforted by North Wales Police family liaison officers and are extremely traumatised by the deaths."
