Version 0 of 1.

A large shopping centre in Surrey had to be evacuated after three vehicles caught fire in a nearby car park.

Fire crews were called to Bedford Road car park, Guildford, when a Peugeot caught fire at about 11.15 BST.

The flames spread to two other vehicles, with smoke from the blaze spreading to the nearby Friary Centre and activating its alarm.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said the retail site was "evacuated for a short time".

The driver of the Peugeot is believed to have been in the car when the blaze started but was not hurt, according to Surrey Fire and Rescue.

No-one from the Friary Centre, which houses more than 50 stores, was available for comment.
