A ground-breaking and dedication ceremony for the Ali Krieger Sports Complex will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at 17700 Dominican Dr., Dumfries.

The complex is named for Krieger, a former member of the Prince William Sparklers youth soccer team, a graduate of Forest Park High School and a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team that won the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

The facility, being built by Potomac Shores, will contain nine rectangular multipurpose fields, a softball field, two Little League fields, a comfort station, a tot lot and parking.

A forum that focuses on life after high school for students with disabilities is scheduled on Nov. 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at George Mason University’s Johnson Center, 4400 University Dr., Fairfax.

The Future Quest Forum, for students, parents and professionals who work with students with special needs, will include information on educational and career opportunities, speakers, workshops and displays.

The Prince William County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for its fuel assistance program.

The program, administered by the Virginia Department of Social Services, helps low-income households with energy and home-heating needs. Applications, accepted between Tuesday and Nov. 14, are available at the A.J. Ferlazzo Building, 15941 Donald Curtis Dr., Woodbridge, and the Sudley North Government Center, 7987 Ashton Ave., Manassas. To receive an application by mail, call 703-792-7500.

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative encourages its customers to participate in Operation Round Up, which provides heating assistance to qualified recipients. Participating customers have their monthly bills rounded up to the next dollar. The difference is put into the fund that supports local organizations, including ACTS and SERVE.

The 2016 USA BMX “Stars and Stripes” National Tournament is coming to Prince William County in July.

Discover Prince William & Manassas and the sports tourism task force secured the qualifying event for the 2016 Olympic Games.

The tournament, estimated to bring 2,000 to 6,000 athletes and spectators to the county, is part of an annual 30-race National Championship series.
