Shares in drugmaker AstraZeneca slipped 1% after it said US regulators had not approved a diabetes treatment, and had asked for more clinical data. | |
Rio Tinto shares were trading flat. Earlier on Friday, the mining giant had reported a 17% rise in iron ore shipments in the third quarter, saying it had used some of its stockpiles to meet demand. | |
On the currency markets, the pound dropped 0.1% against the dollar to $1.5454 and was unchanged against the euro at €1.3613. |
