Police in the Republic of Ireland have begun an investigation after a man died on a flight to Dublin from Portugal. A man who died after being restrained on an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin had reportedly ingested a number of small packages of cocaine.
A post-mortem examination is being carried out on the 24-year-old's body at Cork University Hospital. The man, named as 24-year-old John Santos Gurgao from Brazil, swallowed 0.8kg (1.8lb) of the drug, the Irish Times reported.
It was reported that he bit another passenger during the two-hour Aer Lingus flight between Lisbon and Dublin on Sunday and had to be restrained. It is believed that one or more of the packages burst during the flight.
