House painter falls 30 feet in elevator shaft in Potomac home
Version 0 of 1. A house painter was seriously injured Tuesday morning when he fell 30 feet in an elevator shaft inside a home in Potomac, emergency officials said. The man is expected to survive, according to Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. About 9:30 a.m., firefighters received a call about a fall inside a house along Cranford Drive. Several different crews were inside, including painters, and they were working on a new edition, Piringer said. It is unclear how the painter got inside the relatively narrow elevator shaft, but he did so on an upper floor and fell to the basement, Piringer said. Fire and rescue workers contacted the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health department, Piringer said. A resident who was at home at the time of the fall declined to comment outside the house Tuesday. |
