A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said: "We are currently at the scene of a plane crash on farmland in Redmere, Ely. The aircraft had taken off from RAF Lakenheath, but was not connected to the base.
"Details are sketchy at this stage and it is not known if there are any casualties."
A member of the public raised the alarm at 10:30 BST.
A spokeswomen from RAF Lakenheath said RAF Mildenhall was leading the response, adding, "we are awaiting further information about it."
