Version 0 of 1.

Prince George’s County police announced an arrest in the slaying of an Upper Marlboro woman discovered dead in her home Tuesday morning.

Police have not yet identified the suspect or detailed the charges the person in custody faces.

Amanda Jones, 56, was found dead about 10:30 a.m. in her house in the 900 block of Andean Goose Way suffering from trauma to her body, police said.

Jones was on the phone Monday night with an acquaintance when the call abruptly ended with sounds of a scream or a tussle, according to officials familiar with the investigation. The person on the other end of the conversation called 911 twice — once Monday night and once Tuesday morning — asking police to check on Jones.

Officers had twice visited her home for requested welfare checks routed through the county’s non-emergency number, police said. Finding nothing, officers did not enter the home and left, police said.

It wasn’t until a third call to the house that police found her body.

Officials were working to verify what dispatchers told officers about the first two calls, police said Tuesday night.
