Version 0 of 1.

The home secretary, Theresa May, is to criticise the race record of the police in England and Wales, saying they are too white and that not one of the 43 forces looks like the community it serves.

The Guardian would like to analyse the representation of black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people within the police. We are interested in looking at the ties between forces and their communities, as well as on a national level.

We would like to hear from people who have been successful or unsuccessful in applying to join the police, as well as those who have thought about applying but decided against it. We are also interested in your experiences and views of BAME representation in your area. If you have been involved in trying to recruit in this area, please share your experience too.

Please submit your perspectives in the form below. Your responses can be anonymous, if you wish.
