Two people get into fight over parking spot in Fairfax, one pulls out a hatchet
Version 0 of 1. It happens often in the busy, crowded D.C. region — the jockeying over a parking spot. But this time it turned violent when a man in Fairfax County pulled a hatchet on another man as they fought for a spot. The incident happened Monday around 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 7800 block of Sutter Lane, according to Fairfax County police. Authorities said two people got into an argument over a parking space. And that’s when it got really heated. Police said Kamadin Atabaki, 20, of Annandale, pulled a hatchet and threatened the other man. Atabaki was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding. The other person was not injured, police said. The victim’s version to police — he had backed his white work van into a parking spot when another car came “speeding into the space” next to him, almost hitting him, according to Lucy Caldwell, a spokeswoman for the Fairfax police department. The two drivers got out and exchanged not-so-kind words. Then the victim said Atabaki went into a nearby apartment and came back with a hatchet. “He gestured with an ax” at the victim, Caldwell said. |
