A singer-songwriter who had relationships with Liam Gallagher and Pete Doherty has accepted substantial undisclosed damages for phone hacking.

Lisa Moorish was the subject of a number of articles published in the News of the World from 2000 onwards, said solicitor Callum Galbraith at London’s high court.

He told Mr Justice Mann that they contained private information about Moorish’s children and her legal and financial affairs.

In May 2013, Moorish was told by the Metropolitan police, which was investigating voicemail interception at the newspaper, that News Group Newspapers may have misused her private information.

In November last year, Moorish launched proceedings and NGN denied the majority of her allegations.

Galbraith said on Friday that NGN had accepted that there had been a misuse of her private information which should never have taken place.

It had agreed to pay her substantial damages for the distress she had suffered and her legal costs.

Offering NGN’s apologies, Antony White QC said: “The defendant accepts that the claimant’s private information should not have been targeted in this way and accepts liability for its unlawful activity.”
