Two men arrested in Oct. 8 slaying of Silver Spring man in park
Version 0 of 1. Montgomery County detectives Saturday announced the arrest of two men in connection with the Oct. 8 shooting death of a 22-year-old man in a Briggs Chaney area park in Silver Spring. Police arrested Earl Bennette, 24, and Shante Gladden, 22, both of unknown addresses, in connection with the death of Garrett Alexander McClees. Both men are charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. Police say McClees and the suspects knew each other and that Bennette’s phone number was found in McClees’s cellphone. The two had been in contact with each other on the same day prior to McClees’s death, detectives said, and investigators believe the slaying was drug-related. McClees was shot once in the torso and his backpack was stolen. Detectives said they received multiple tips in the case. Gladden was arrested in the District and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County. Bennette was arrested in Silver Spring. |
