Police have wanted to charge Gino, 58, and Mark, 35, with 13 offences each, including attempted murder after they allegedly fired on two police vehicles on 16 October. The NSW police commissioner, Andrew Scipione, praised the actions of the police as the greatest concern was that the pair were armed and dangerous.“A great result,” he told radio station 2GB. “It is important that we always remember that we were in the business of stopping this going any further.“These two men in custody now means that it is over.”
Gino, 58, and Mark, 35, have been on the run for eight years, securing odd jobs along the way, and have eluded arrest despite having been spotted at various locations in north-eastern Victoria and south-western NSW in the past two weeks. Their last confirmed sighting was at a service station at South Gundagai on Saturday night, more than 400km from Dubbo. More to come... Gino and Mark Stocco have spent time in prison for crimes going back at least as far as 2004, when Mark assaulted his mother. In 2007 Gino was jailed for four months after pleading guilty to charges including burglary, theft and obtaining financial advantage by deception. Mark was jailed for two months that year on three charges, including assaulting his mother.
In 2007 and in June this year, Queensland police issued warrants for the pair in relation to property damage.
