Headteacher Anna Muirhead said pupils and staff were “in a state of total shock”. She said: “The boy involved was a very gentle and caring pupil with a lot of friends. The school, in an affluent suburb of Aberdeen, was cordoned off after the incident and a number of police officers remained on site. Speaking at a press conference outside the school, Mackie said the 16-year-old pupil remained in police custody.
