Prisoner in critical condition after brawl at NSW maximum security jail
Version 0 of 1. An investigation is under way after a 23-year-old inmate at Lithgow’s maximum security prison suffered a serious puncture wound to his neck in a prison fight. The fight, involving five prisoners, broke out at the central New South Wales jail on Saturday morning. One prisoner was seriously injured in what appears to be a stabbing. The spokeswoman said four inmates were segregated and police attended the centre, but no charges had yet been laid. The Lithgow prison facility faced unrest in September this year, when a fire was lit during a disturbance involving over 30 prisoners. Guards at the centre used tear gas to disperse the inmates. |
