A 35-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter have been seriously hurt after they were hit by a vehicle while walking on Torquay seafront. A mother has "life-changing" injuries and her six-year-old daughter has been left seriously hurt after being hit by a car while walking on the seafront.
They are said to have suffered potentially "life-threatening" injuries in the crash on Corbyn Head at 13:18. The pair were in a group of five people when a car mounted the pavement in Torquay on Sunday lunchtime.
Three ambulances were called to the scene, where the vehicle driver, a 53-year-old local man, also suffered as-yet undisclosed injuries. The mother, aged 35, suffered head and leg injuries described by police as "life-changing" while her daughter is in a stable condition in hospital.
All were taken to Torbay Hospital. The road was closed for several hours. The driver, a 53-year-old Brixham man, suffered minor injuries.

The car, which was heading in the Paignton direction, also collided with a parked car.
The woman is being treated at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash near the junction of Torbay Road and Sea Way Lane.
The road was closed for seven and a half hours while a specialist forensic investigation of the scene took place.
