Red-footed falcons are rare visitors to the UK from Eastern Europe. The RSPB added the bird was "incredibly tame" and "approachable".
They are described as "near threatened" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's red list of endangered species. It had been killed with a shotgun and was likely to have been killed where its body was found. Investigations are continuing into the possible motive for the shooting.

The RSPB is still offering a £1,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the person who shot the bird, while Suffolk Police said it was still an active investigation.
