Police investigating two sexual assaults
Version 0 of 1. D.C. police are investigating two sexual assaults that occurred Saturday in Northwest and Northeast Washington, according to the department. The first occurred about 5:30 a.m. when police said a woman was ordered into a white minivan in the 1100 block of 11th Street NW, two blocks from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and near the Marriott Marquis Hotel along Massachusetts Avenue. Police said the man drove the woman about 10 blocks to the 1500 block of 5th Street NW, in Shaw, where she said she was sexually assaulted and robbed. The victim described the man as black standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. She told police he appeared to be in his early 30s, had small eyes, a bald head and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and light blue jeans. The woman did not note the license plate of the vehicle. Later Saturday, about 9:30 p.m., police said a man tried to sexually assault a woman walking in the 1200 block of Wylie Street NE, a block north of H Street near one of the District’s new nightlife areas. Police said a man grabbed the woman and that she got away without being injured. The woman described the attacker as black with a medium complexion, short hair, a mustache and about 29 to 30 years old. He was wearing a knee-length brown hooded jacket, a gold watch, black jeans and brown boots. Police would not say if they believe the two assaults are related. They occurred 16 hours and more than two miles apart. |
