Man dies in motorcycle crash

Chain reaction crashes are not for cars alone. Four bicyclists were injured in such a collision Saturday in the Potomac area of Montgomery County, authorities said.

One cyclist went down about 8:30 a.m. in the 10300 block of Glen Road, leading to injuries to three others, said Pete Piringer, the county fire and rescue spokesman.

One of the men was seriously injured. The others had bumps, bruises and abrasions. All were taken to hospitals.

In an earlier recreation-related incident in Montgomery, three people were injured in separate incidents Friday on the Billy Goat Trail along the Potomac River. One was hoisted out by helicopter.

A 32-year-old Waldorf man was killed Friday morning in a motorcycle crash in White Plains, Charles County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

The sheriff’s office said Warren M. Chamber lost control of his motorcycle at Crain Highway and Billingsley Road as he tried to go between tractor trailers slowing for a traffic signal.

Fire caused significant damage Saturday to a house in the 5500 block of Eaglebeak Row in Columbia, Howard County authorities said.

Firefighters found the house engulfed in flames about 2 p.m. according to the county fire department.Information about a cause was not available.
