Stroke survivor, 35, 'overwhelmed' by responses to online appeal for positive stories after injury

Version 0 of 1. A stroke survivor who appealed to the internet for help has said he was “overwhelmed” by the outpouring of support from all over the world. Dan Needham, 35, suffered a minor stroke after he sneezed at the wheel of his car. But after he was discharged from hospital he suffered a second far more severe stroke leaving him with damaged vision and struggling to walk without a cane. Mr Needham, from Norwich, set up the Facebook page 4stroke4life while in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, Norwich, to share details of his recovery and asking people to share their stories to help him on his way. “So I need answers I want to hear from folk who have been here and beaten it, come back and found there awesome in life again, that thing that just makes you buzz I want to see it,” he wrote in the first post which has been shared by thousands. As interest in Mr Needham, who is due to marry fiancé Suzy Young next year, picked up the sales engineer asked followers to donate to Stroke Association.
In the latest post, Mr Needham reports his walking has hugely improved in the past few days – allowing him to move short distances unaided. Unfortunately, the motorbike enthusiast said his “wiring is still faulty,” and he was experiencing shooting pains and was unable to tell hot from cold, describing it as “a super power until you consider the damage I could do to myself.” |
