Internal bikie dispute behind Picton service station shooting, police say
Version 0 of 1. Internal bikie conflicts are reportedly behind the killing of a senior Rebels motorcycle gang member outside a service station south-west of Sydney. Witnesses said Darren Wallace, 32, had pleaded for his life, saying, “Don’t do it,” before he was shot in Picton on Wednesday. The killer’s body was discovered in nearby Picton Creek a short time later. Police said the cause of death was yet to be confirmed but officers had not fired any shots during the search. Detective Superintendent Wayne Benson told reporters both men were known to the police. “I can say that both deceased men were members of outlaw motorcycle gangs and known to each other,” he said. A Picton resident, Ron Davies, heard the shots ring out from across the road and said the shooter had turned around and walked calmly back down the street. Shocked paramedics who were parked nearby had reached the scene in seconds, Davies said, but there had been nothing they could do. “They were arguing,” he said of the shooter and his victim. “The guy who was shot said to the other guy, ‘Don’t do it,’ and he just went bang and shot him.” |
