Man dies after police van crash in Isleworth

A pedestrian has died a day after he was hit by a police van as it responded to an emergency in west London.

The vehicle struck the 35-year-old at about 22:55 GMT on 8 December on London Road, Isleworth. It was responding to a 999 call in Hounslow.

The man was taken to hospital but died the following day. His next-of-kin have been informed and an inquest will be held in due course.

Anyone who saw the collision is urged to contact the force.

Scotland Yard said the van's blue lights were in use without sirens at the time and neither of the officers, both PCs, were injured.

The Met said its Directorate of Professional Standards and the Independent Police Complaints Commission had been informed.
