Cat found dangling from phone line in Southeast Washington

Law enforcement officers found a cat Wednesday as it dangled from a phone line across an alley in the 400 block of Newcomb Street in Southeast Washington, the Washington Humane Society said. The incident happened Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning, authorities said. The cat is described as being an adult male, short-haired grey tabby. The Humane Society posted the information on its Facebook page, along with a graphic photo showing the feline hanging from a wire and warning that the image was disturbing. In its statement on Facebook, the group said, “we desperately need the community’s help for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this horrific act of animal cruelty.” A $5,000 reward is being offered for information in the incident.
