Up to 700 passengers have been evacuated from Marylebone railway station in London after a fire started on a train. Hundreds of passengers had to be evacuated from Marylebone railway station on Friday night after a fire started on a train.
There are no services currently leaving the station, which serves towns and cities in the northern home counties and West Midlands, Chiltern Railways tweeted. London fire brigade sent four fire engines and a further rescue unit to the scene at Marylebone station.
The rail operator said: “London Marylebone station has been evacuated and there are no train services currently leaving the station.” Twenty-five firefighters from Paddington, Soho, Kensington and Euston fire stations attended the incident in central London at about 9pm on Friday.

London fire brigade said it estimated between 400 and 700 people had been evacuated and it had sent four fire engines and a further rescue unit to the scene. London fire brigade station manager Paul Hobbs said: “The fire was affecting one of the train’s carriages but crews worked quickly to put it out. Around 500 people have been evacuated from the station.”
A message on the National Rail website added: “A fire on a train at London Marylebone is causing delays of up to 30 minutes to all services to and from the station.” Shortly after 11pm National Rail said some services had begun to run again between Marylebone, which serves towns and cities in the northern home counties and West Midlands, and Banbury, Aylesbury and High Wycombe.
Chiltern Railways said on Twitter: “Thankfully no one was hurt.”
Disruption was expected until 1am on Saturday and passengers were advised to visit the National Rail website to find alternative travel options.
