Two schools in Prince William County are on an upgraded security status as police in the area look for a man who they believe is armed and stole keys as someone walked in a parking lot.

Gar-Field High School and Bel Air Elementary School are in a “precautionary secure the building status,” according to the school system’s Twitter feed. It goes on to say, “all safe.”

Police in Prince William said a man who was armed with a handgun took a person’s keys before he ran off on foot in the Noblewood Plaza shopping center in Woodbridge.

No one was reported as being injured.
