A man who was shot Dec. 10 in Northeast Washington has died of his injuries, according to D.C. police.

Charles Mayo, 53, of Northeast, was pronounced dead at an area hospital on Thursday. Police said he had been shot multiple times last week in the 1900 block of Bennett Place NE, in the Langston-Carver neighborhood.

There has been 157 homicides in the District this year, up nearly 60 percent from this time in 2014.
