About 700 Pepco customers still without electricity in Northeast D.C.
Version 0 of 1. About 700 customers of Pepco remain without electrical service in Northeast Washington Saturday afternoon. Pepco spokesman Bill Yingling said the outage, first reported about 8 a.m., is affecting residents in the area of Catholic University and Fort Totten. It was caused by a vehicle striking a utility pole. D.C. police say one vehicle crashed into a pole in the 3500 block of Harewood Road NE between Michigan Avenue and Taylor Street. That area has remained closed to traffic and is expected to stay closed for two to three more hours, police said on Twitter. The outage initially affected about 1,500 customers, but crews were able to restore power in some areas and are now working to restore service to the customers still in the dark. Yingling said the utility expects to have power restored to all customers by late afternoon. |
