Version 0 of 1.

A car that stuck a man who died in a suspected hit-and-run crash has been found abandoned in Merseyside.

The pedestrian, believed to have been in his 50s, died after being hit in Richard Kelly Drive, Walton, Liverpool at about 21:00 GMT on Friday.

The silver Ford Focus was found less than half a mile away, in Sandyville Grove, on Saturday.

Inquiries are under way to find the driver. Police are yet to indentify the man who died.

Det Ch Insp Mark Kameen said: "We would appeal to anyone who saw the car being left in Sandyville Grove or saw anyone on foot leaving the area following the collision... to contact us."

He appealed for "two female occupants" of a car who were spoken to by a plainclothes patrol before the crash to contact the force.
