D.C. police identify body found submerged in Hummer in Anacostia
Version 0 of 1. A man who died when he apparently drove a Hummer into the Anacostia River on Monday night has been identified as a 51-year-old from Maryland, according to D.C. police. Lamont Gordon of Temple Hills in Prince George’s County was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they are investigating the circumstances of his death, but autopsy results have not been released. The incident occurred about 10:10 p.m. in Anacostia Park in Southeast Washington. Police said the vehicle went off the end of a boat ramp and into the river. Assistant D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said that while the cause has not been determined, Gordon’s death “does not appear to be a homicide.” |
