Five shootings reported in D.C. on the day after Christmas
Version 0 of 1. Christmas in the city seemed fairly peaceful, but five shootings were reported the day after, two in the first hour after the holiday ended. One of those two happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of First Street SW, the other 10 minutes later in the 1000 block of 48th Place NE. Three more shootings were reported Saturday night, the latest about 10 p.m. in the 1300 block of Savannah Place SE. The others were in the 3400 block of 13th Place SE and the 2300 block of 16th Street SE. On Christmas Day, at least one shooting was reported: It was in the 1500 block of 45th Street NE. Little information was available about the conditions of most of those shot. However, in the shooting on First Street SW, police said, the victim was conscious and breathing when taken to a hospital. The First Street attack occurred in perhaps the most prominent location, a couple of blocks west of Nationals Park. |
